A third poll, released last week, showed Rubio ahead by 3 points. -- Voters will decide on six proposed constitutional amendments this fall with Monday's end to the window for proposals to qualify for the ballot. Repeal of public campaign finance laws: The Florida Legislature voted in the spring to put before voters a proposed amendment that would repeal the public campaign financing for statewide campaigns. Homestead ad valorem tax: The Legislature is asking voters to provide an additional homestead property tax exemption for members of the U.S. military or military reserves, the Coast Guard or its reserves, or the Florida National Guard, who receive a homestead exemption and were deployed in the previous year on active duty outside of the United States. Marco Rubio edges ahead of Gov. Crist in new poll

-- Former House Speaker Marco Rubio, who visited Pensacola on Monday, has taken his first lead in the race for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate, according to the latest poll. The conservative Republican from West Miami is challenging Gov. Charlie Crist for the nomination for U.S. Senate. Rubio now leads Crist, 47-44, which is well within the margin of error, according to Quinnipiac University. Faith-based prison rehab case reversed

-- Advocates for the separation of church and state scored a victory Tuesday when the 1st District Court of Appeal reversed the dismissal of their claim that state-funded, "faith-based" rehabilitation of ex-prisoners is unconstitutional. The Council for Secular Humanism, a New York-based organization with membership in Florida, had appealed a Leon County Circuit Court judge's 2008 dismissal of the group's complaint that the state's contract with Prisoners of Christ and Lamb of God Ministries is unconstitutional.
